Validation and Verification Bodies
What is Validation and Verification?
Validation is a third-party evaluation conducted following the project’s design. Its principal aim is to review the project's Project Design Document (PDD), evaluate the reasonableness of the assumptions, the veracity of the data, and its compliance with the Equitable Earth Programme, the Standard and the methodology applied.
Verification is a third-party evaluation conducted at specified intervals throughout the crediting period of the project. Its principal objective is to evaluate the information reported annually by developers, Equitable Earth’s GHG removals calculations and to determine if the statements are correct and conform to the PDD.
These processes are carried out by Validation/Verification Bodies (VVBs) – competent, impartial third-party auditors approved by Equitable Earth. VVBs are specialists in the Equitable Earth programme and the specific technical domain they assess.

AENOR Confía, S.A.U. hereinafter (AENOR) is an internationally accredited Validation and Verification Body (VVB) with extensive experience in assessing greenhouse gas (GHG) projects globally, accredited under ISO/IEC 17029: 2019, ISO 14065: 2020 and ISO 14064-3: 2019. AENOR conducts independent validation and verification for Nature-based Solutions (NbS) including afforestation, reforestation, and ecosystem restoration.
